With 84 days until the 2023 Green Bay Packers season, we give you the best players to wear Packers number 84. The official ranking of these players is based on the Approximate Value (AV) from Pro Football Reference. The AV is based on performance and accolades during the time they wore this number in Green Bay.

Without further ado, here are the all-time best players to wear Green Bay Packers number 84.

Best Players to Wear Green Bay Packers Number 84

1) Sterling Sharpe, WR (1988-94)

NFL Draft: 1988, Round 1, Pick 7 to the Green Bay Packers

Sterling Sharpe is the best player ever to wear the Green Bay Packers’ number 84 jersey. On top of that, you could make a case that Sharpe is the best wide receiver in Packers history.

Drafted seventh overall in 1988, Sterling Sharpe played all seven of his NFL seasons in Green Bay. He totaled five Pro Bowls and three All-Pro honors during this time. He also caught 595 passes for 8,134 yards and 65 touchdowns. For those who don’t know, Sterling Sharpe’s NFL career was cut short due to a neck injury. With more time, Sharpe would likely be unanimously considered the best wide receiver in Packers history, and hopefully, he would be in the NFL Hall of Fame.

Despite only playing seven seasons, Sharpe ranks third all-time in franchise receiving yards, third in receptions and fourth in receiving touchdowns. He led the NFL in receptions three times, receiving touchdowns twice and receiving yards once.

2) Carroll Dale, WR (1965-72)

NFL Draft: 1960, Round 8, Pick 86 to the Los Angeles Rams

It’s tough to follow up Sharpe, but Carroll Dale has a solid career himself. Dale spent his first five seasons with the Los Angeles Rams before playing eight seasons in Green Bay. During his time as a Packer, he was voted to three Pro Bowls. Dale also won three NFL Championships and two Super Bowls. He totaled 275 receptions, 5,422 receiving yards and 35 touchdowns in these eight seasons.

3) Bill Schroeder, WR (1997-2001)

NFL Draft: 1994, Round 6, Pick 181 to the Green Bay Packers

Bill Schroeder is one of the best-ever WIAC football players to make the NFL. Drafted out of UW-La Crosse, Schroeder played his first five NFL seasons in Green Bay before playing two years with the Detroit Lions and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He totaled 225 receptions for 3,435 yards and 20 touchdowns in these five Packer seasons.

Who Wears Packers’ Number 84 in 2023?

Currently, Tyler Davis wears the Green Bay Packers’ number 84 jersey. Brian Gutekunst has been in love with Davis for some unknown reason, so he returns as one of the most experienced pass-catchers on the entire roster, which doesn’t inspire much confidence. Luckily, the Packers drafted two talented tight ends this offseason.
