The 2023 NFL Combine results are in for hundreds of college football players hoping to hear their names called in the 2023 NFL Draft soon. There were three Wisconsin Badgers football players in attendance at the Combine, and they did their best to improve their draft stocks. Wisconsin football players participating in Indianapolis included Joe Tippmann, Nick Herbig and Keeanu Benton.
While Wisconsin football isn’t going to produce as many NFL Draft picks as seasons past, their play on the field and NFL Combine results suggest these three players could become contributors at the NFL level.
NFL Combine Results For Wisconsin Badgers Football Players
Joe Tippmann, C
It looks like Joe Tippmann did not go through the physical testing, so we don’t have any NFL Combine results for him. Instead, we will wait for his pro day.
Joe Tippmann looks to be the next successful center to come out of the Wisconsin football program. Currently, he is projected to be a Day 2 pick. Tippmann is being projected as early as the second round.
Keeanu Benton, DT
40-Time: 5.08 sec
10-Split: 1.79 sec
Bench: 25 reps
Vertical: 29.5 in
Broad: 9 feet, 3 in
3-Cone: 7.34 sec
Shuttle: 4.65 sec
After shining in the Senior Bowl, Keeanu Benton is rising up draft boards. He is also projected to be a Day 2 pick and is projected as high as the second round.
Benton is a brawler inside. He has the ability to be a rotational piece at the interior defensive line. It may take a year or two, but I do believe he has the tools to be an anchor on the inside.
Nick Herbig, EDGE
40-Time: 4.65 sec
10-Split: 1.59 sec
Bench: 25 reps
Nick Herbig is projected to be a Day 3 draft pick, though we have seen plenty of late or undrafted Wisconsin football players have success in the NFL recently, and Herbig hopes to be the next one on the list.
Yes, Nick Herbig lacks size and strength. However, he has a nose for the football and isn’t afraid to fly around and make a hit. Analysts said similar things about Jack Sanborn last draft, and he totaled 59 tackles and two sacks in his six starts as a rookie.
