There were many different predictions on how last week’s game between the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints would go. None had the Packers scoring 18 unanswered points in the fourth quarter on their way to an 18-17 victory. The Packers improved to 2-1 and currently sit atop the NFC North ahead of Thursday’s Lions vs Packers game.

With Detroit coming to town on Thursday night, the top spot in the NFC North is up for grabs. Read on for our Lions vs Packers prediction, NFL odds and a Packers injury report heading into Week 4.

Green Bay Packers News | Lions vs Packers Prediction

The Packers looked like a team that belonged in the sweepstakes for the first overall pick in next year’s draft for three and a half quarters against the Saints. After getting some big flags from the Saints secondary and Jordan Love making some plays with his feet, the offense was able to do just enough to secure a win over the Saints.

The defense as a whole was solid. However, they did have trouble stopping New Orleans’ offense until quarterback Derek Carr had to leave the game with a shoulder injury following a Rashan Gary sack. The defense will have to generate similar pressure against Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions if they want a chance to improve to 3-1.

Detroit Lions News | Lions vs Packers Prediction

The Detroit Lions bounced back with a 20-6 win over the Atlanta Falcons after losing a very winnable game in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks. Detroit’s offense wasn’t able to put up a ton of points in large part due to penalties. Detroit had 10 penalties against Atlanta, totaling 119 yards. If Detroit continues to shoot themselves in the foot, the Packers defense should be good enough to keep them in check.

Defensively, Detroit put on one of their best performances in the Dan Campbell era. Not only did they hold the Falcons to just 183 yards, they held a very good running team to just 44 yards on 20 carries. Matt LaFleur and the Packers like to run the ball, so if the Lions are able to have success against the run again, they could keep this Packers offense from putting up many points.
