Gas station seafood forever has had a very negative connotation. However, all of us in Wisconsin know that Kwik Trip is not any ordinary gas station. As a result, when the Kwik Trip Honey Butter Battered Shimp gets released, it’s reason to be excited. If the following Kwik Trip food review sounds good to you, just know that you can get this limited-edition menu item until August 2023.
While some Kwik Trip locations have already experimented with this food item, it appears the majority will now have it for a limited time. We know sweet and shrimp work together, with the popularity of coconut shrimp. So, what did we think of the new Kwik Trip Honey Butter Battered Shrimp?
Kwik Trip Food Review: NEW Kwik Trip Honey Butter Battered Shrimp
I ordered the new Kwik Trip Honey Butter Battered Shrimp ahead of time and got it fresh, and I suggest you do the same. As with any deep-fried food item, it’s best to get it fresh when it is still hot and crispy, which is exactly what my experience was.
I received 10 shrimp of varying sizes, but it felt like a good value for $4.99. Again, it was fresh, so it was still hot and crispy, which will be needed to make these shrimp good, in my opinion.
The Verdict: How Do We Like The Kwik Trip Honey Butter Battered Shrimp?
I’d rank this new Kwik Trip food item a 4.25/5.
The honey sweetness came through in the aftertaste, but it was not too overpowering. The shrimp were still juicy, making this a great menu item.
What would have put it over the top was some kind of spice element so it was not just sweet and salty. Even some black pepper in the batter would have been enough. I also don’t think you would want to dip these shrimp in anything, and there isn’t anything offered at Kwik Trip that currently makes sense. However, possible a honey sriracha sauce could be good with this.
