Best Players to Wear Green Bay Packers Number 31

1) Jim Taylor, FB (1958-66)

NFL Draft: 1958, Round 2, Pick 15 to the Green Bay Packers

Jim Taylor is the best player to ever wear the Green Bay Packers’ number 31 jersey. Taylor amassed over 8,200 yards on the ground and over 1,500 receiving yards in just nine seasons with the Packers. He racked up accolades as well, with five Pro Bowls, one All-Pro, one MVP and four championships during his Hall of Fame career.

2) Al Harris, CB (2003-09)

NFL Draft: 1997, Round 6, Pick 169 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Green Bay Packers acquired Al Harris via trade with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2002, trading away their second-round pick for Harris and a fourth-round pick. It wouldn’t take long for Harris to make a name for himself. He is still remembered for his legendary walk-off pick-six off of Matt Hasselbeck in overtime of the 2003 NFC Wild Card game. Harris would reach two Pro Bowls with the Packers and be named to the Second-Team All-Pro in 2007.

3) Gerry Ellis, RB (1980-86)

NFL Draft: 1980, Round 7, Pick 192 to the Los Angeles Rams

Gerry Ellis found his way to Green Bay after being cut by the Rams in his first preseason. The Packers claimed him and Ellis went on to make an impact early. In 1981, Ellis set Packers single-season team records for total offense and receiving yards by a running back. He accounted for more than a quarter of Green Bay’s yards that season, and Ellis totaled over 3,800 rushing yards and 2,500 receiving yards over his seven-year career before a torn Achilles ended his career in 1987.

Who Wears Packers’ Number 31 in 2023?

Currently, Emanuel Wilson wears the Green Bay Packers’ number 31 jersey. The rookie out of Fort Valley State University is on the outside looking in as a part of a loaded running back room. It’s very unlikely Wilson gets a spot on the team, but he will look to make an impression and hopefully end up on a practice squad.
