Although McDonalds’ breakfast has been a favorite for people in a hurry for years, Kwik Trip is quickly making a name for itself in the fast food game, especially in Wisconsin. Their hot spot breakfast items are just as good as any other and rival Mcdonald’s breakfast sandwiches. Pair it with some milk from the fridge or a Karuba coffee, and you have a great start to the morning.
There are many breakfast options at Kwik Trip but just two long-time staples in their sandwiches. So, which is better, the croissant or English muffin?
The Let’s Go Wisconsin team has taken it upon themselves to solve this pressing question. Below, I did a Kwik Trip taste test food review, putting the croissant and English muffin sandwiches against each other. Along with taste, we will be taking price and everything else that adds to the experience into account for our taste tests.
Kwik Trip Food Review Taste Test: Croissant vs English Muffin Breakfast Sandwich
I decided to go with Kwik Trip breakfast sandwiches for this taste test since I, like many other people, am often looking for a quick fix for breakfast. Like all other hot spot items at Kwik Trip, both sandwiches are sold individually. The prices will vary, but the ones included in this article are from Kwik Trips in the Milwaukee area.
Both sandwiches are wrapped in paper and under the hot spot heater. With flavor this good across the board, there is no reason for Kwik Trip to dress it up or make the sandwiches look fancy.
Appearance-wise, the sandwiches are nearly identical. They are the same size, however, the difference is in the bun. The croissant bun is golden and flaky while the English muffin is slightly browned and more springy to the touch.
Both sandwiches include the basics. Outside of the bun, they include the meat, egg and cheese. The main difference outside of the bun itself is that the croissant sandwich comes in four different varieties: sausage, ham, bacon and western. The English muffin sandwich only comes in sausage and bacon.
If ham or western are your go-to choices in the morning, then the croissant breakfast sandwich is the way to go for you. However, this is something that doesn’t matter to me, as I’m more of a sausage guy myself. With that behind us, how does the actual sandwich taste?
Taste-wise, it’s pretty obvious the English muffin tastes better and is the better option. However, the croissant sandwich was very good as well. If there was ever a time when only one type of sandwich was available, I wouldn’t be too broken up about it.
The Verdict: Which Kwik Trip Breakfast Sandwich is Best?
If you are looking for a sandwich to blow your socks off, I believe Kwik Trip’s Croissant sandwiches have a higher ceiling. Not only is it a good-tasting sandwich, but when the sandwich is freshly made, there is nothing better than a buttery and flaky croissant bun. It pairs perfectly with the meat, egg and cheese while looking incredible, and it is the ideal choice for our Kwik Trip taste test and food review.
HOWEVER, if you are looking for “old reliable,” there is no doubt that the English muffin sandwiches are the better option. When the croissant sandwiches are made fresh, they can’t be beaten. With that in mind, most of the time, the sandwiches have been sitting under the warmer for at least a few minutes. The English muffin bun never gets soggy or loses its flavor while the croissant can sometimes become dry and smushed down after some time under the warmer. When that happens, the consistency of the English muffin takes the cake.
