The cheese and the Green Bay Packers go as well together as, well, cheese and anything Wisconsin-related. That is why a partnership between the Packers and Sargento makes perfect sense. And not only are the two partners on game day, but they have continued to partner in a donation for a great cause.
Sargento is the official cheese of the Green Bay Packers. Obviously, with thousands of cheeseheads in attendance, this is quite the honor. And with such high power comes high responsibility. That is why Sargento has continued to donate money every season on behalf of the Packers, based on their performance.
Green Bay Packers, Sargento Make Cheesy Donations to Local Food Banks
Every NFL season, the Green Bay Packers and Sargento Foods team up to donate $2,000 for every touchdown scored. This initiative has been called “Touchdowns for Hunger.”
The money donated by Sargento goes to a couple of local food banks: Paul’s Pantry in Green Bay and Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee. Both do incredible work in assisting families and those in need of food during such a crazy time with prices skyrocketing. If you have time or money to give, feel free to check out their websites!
“Touchdowns for Hunger” demonstrates our pride for the Packers and our community,” said Sargento Chairman & CEO Louie Gentine. “We’re proud to continue our donation in the postseason and cheering for Packers touchdowns to help feed families across Wisconsin.”
In 2024, the Green Bay Packers scored a total of 53 touchdowns, including the Playoffs. This meant a donation of $106,000 by Sargento, bringing the total of “Touchdowns for Hunger” to $1.9 million, or over one million meals.
Which Packer Helped Donate the Most Cheddar?
I believe King Henry II first said “It’s all about the cheddar, baby!” Well, probably. Whether talking money or actual cheese, it is a good thing. But which Green Bay Packers player helped to donate the money money during the 2024 season?
Obviously, Jordan Love helped to account for the most touchdowns, since he was throwing the ball. Love passed for 25 touchdowns and ran one in as well. This meant he helped to contribute $52,000 via “Touchdowns for Hunger” from Sargento Foods.
Newcomer Josh Jacobs enjoyed quite the season as well. Jacobs ran for a total of 16 touchdowns (including playoffs) and caught one as well. This equates to $34,000 to charity.
While the Packers did not get any special teams touchdowns this season, thanks to Keisean Nixon pouting, Green Bay did get a defensive touchdown from the true CB1. Jaire Alexander got a pick-six against the Tennessee Titans back in September.
What is Sargento?
Sargento Foods Inc. is a family-owned business that was founded in 1953 in Plymouth, Wisconsin. Their claim to fame is that they are the company that successfully introduced America to pre-packaged sliced and shredded natural cheeses and cheese blends.
Growing to over 2,500 employees and having a reported $1.8 billion in sales annually, Sargento kept its headquarters in Plymouth, which we love. With the large number of cheeses and snacks offered, it is no wonder that Sartori is the Official Cheese of the Green Bay Packers. Again, that’s a helluva honor.
